Easter devotion from the Gospel of Luke 2:22–35
In Birth.
The Light of the world
shining through every day of His life,
teaching as He walked,
loving as He healed.
But before all of that:
An old man, waiting.
Simeon, prompted by the Spirit,
guided into the temple.
And when he saw the baby, he knew.
Not just a child.
Not just a promise.
Light. Salvation. Revelation. Glory.
Not gentle only —
but powerful.
Contained.
Waiting.
An atom ready to be split.
In Death.
He hung on a cross,
the sky turned dark.
Hope seemed buried
as He laid in a tomb.
And then—
The atom split.
Light radiated from the grave.
The stone rolled away.
Grave clothes left behind.
Death undone.
What will you do with this Light of the world?
This holy, dangerous gift of love —
power strong enough to shatter darkness,
gentle enough to be held.
Once cradled in Mary’s arms.
Now placed into yours.
Prayer:
Jesus, Light of the world,
I place what I do not understand into Your hands.
Split what needs resurrection light.
Let Your love do what only it can do.
Amen.
